The name “tallboy” originally comes from the 18th century and was used colloquially for tall, narrow chests of drawers designed to save space.

Paul Kelly trained as a guitar maker at the London College of Furniture and then played music for several years before opening his first workshop in London's Butlers Wharf in 1990 and starting to make furniture. Paul is a globally recognized artist.

His cube series was exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2016 and 2017.
